Wikipedia defines ‘challenge’ as a general term referring to things that are imbued with a sense of difficulty and victory.

I particularly like this definition though from an online dictionary – ‘a test of one’s abilities or resources in a demanding but stimulating undertaking’.

This image represents something that I would find a real challenge, and no I am not thinking of taking it on!

A challenge to one person of course is not necessarily a challenge to another. It often depends on how familiar with something we are whether or not we consider it would be a challenge to attempt it. But I do believe that in life we should all take on challenges. After all, that is how we learn and grow.

What Does Challenge Mean To Me?

Well, this month it means writing at least 4 blog posts a week for the next 30 days and commenting on the posts of other members of our Blogging Group. This challenge was laid down by Stuart Ross, co-founder of the Six Figure Mentors, in his training webinar for Elite members last Thursday evening, and I have decided to accept it. I am a few days behind some of the other group members as I was away for 3 days.

But do you believe in coincidences or do things happen for a reason? I was away because I was attending a Work/Life Balance weekend run by the Association of Scottish Businesswomen at the beautiful Barony Castle in the Sottish Borders. A weekend of wine, women (18 of us to be precise) and song (well some anyway). However, that’s a story for another time!

What Would You Like To have Achieved in 6 Months Time?

One of the things Stuart asked on his webinar was ‘Do we know where we want to be and what we would like to have achieved in 6 months time’? Well, the coincidence is that we had a session on achieving a balance between life and business during our weekend.

And as part of that session, we had to complete a questionnaire giving a score to various aspects of our personal life and our business life as we feel about it now. We then had to write down what score we would like these aspects to have in 6 months time.

The aspects with the biggest differences between the 2 scores are the ones we need to concentrate on improving and we have all chosen one from the life side and one from the business side to work on.

This of course requires focus, so we have to make sure we prioritise the tasks we need to undertake to achieve our new scores. This means timetabling your day to allocate time to those tasks.

Finally we wrote a letter to ourselves making positive promises as to where we will be and how we will feel in 6 months when we have reached our objectives. These letters were put in envelopes and will be posted back to us in September!

No matter where you are in life or what your business is (online or offline), you can benefit from creating your own challenge to yourself and working to achieve it. Even the largest of challenges can be achieved by working one day and one step at a time. Just think about how you will feel when you have accepted a challenge and achieved it!

And of course, the more you do something the easier it gets.

No Challenge Is Too Big

if you break it down into manageable chunks and work steadily towards achieving it.

I am reminded of the lovely story of The Daffodil Garden.

Not only has one woman achieved something that many would consider impossible, she has brought pleasure and beauty to the world by doing it.

So back to my original question?
