Why work to build someone else’s dreams when you can work to build your own?
Following on from yesterday’s blog post about having an ‘Attitude of Gratitude’ and making things happen, here are just some ideas for businesses that you can start yourself.
This is just a snapshot of some of the options available but hopefully it will give you something to think about and encourage you to take steps to take control of your life.
Traditional business eg a retail shop selling products you are passionate about.
The downside of this is that set up costs can be high and it is often a few years before you see a return on your investment. Also it will probably require a full-time commitment.
An online version of the above, ie selling products via a website only, could be an alternative but may require storage and shipping of goods. Although you can probably sell other people’s products and get them shipped direct.
You will need to invest in a secure website and learn online marketing skills to be successful with this model.
Selling your skills eg accountancy, website design etc.
Not so much in the way of set up costs for this but need to be able to market yourself and of course you are still trading your time for money as in a traditional job.
Making and selling your own products eg crafts, cupcakes
An opportunity to do something you really love but not very scaleable ie there’s a limit to how much you can make yourself, so you may need to employ staff to scale up.
Buying and selling on Ebay and other online sites
Some people seem to make a lot of money doing this although I imagine it is still limited by the amount of time you have available.
There are some fantastic products available from network marketing companies and the set up costs are usually pretty low. This will involve building a team of people and helping them to grow their businesses.
Some people are very successful with this business model but it’s not for everyone.
Basically selling other people’s products and getting paid a commission for doing so, normally carried out online.
You can sell information products such as are available from Clickbank, JVZoo, etc or actual products via companies like Amazon and Commission Junction or you can often register as an affiliate directly through the retailer’s own website.
Because some products are very low value or commission rates are low (or a combination of both) it can take a great deal of time and effort to make a decent income.
Affiliate Marketing of High Ticket Items
This is what attracted me to the Six Figure Mentors/Digital Experts Academy. And of course it has the added bonus of a thriving community of like-minded entrepreneurs, excellent training, tools and support.
To be successful in any business you need to be prepared to put in time, hard work, focus and commitment in the early days to get your business off the ground.
If you promote products that you are passionate about and have used yourself so that you can sell their benefits, you will enjoy your business so much more.
Let me know in the comments below which business model appeals most to you.
To your success
PS Nowadays, no matter what your business, marketing it online is essential and the Six Figure Mentors can teach you exactly how to do that.
