Customers are the life blood of any business, and it is generally accepted that it is easier to make more sales to an existing customer than to continually find new customers. And that’s where list building comes in.
There is so much free content available on the internet nowadays that it is essential to have a list. A list of people who are interested in what you do and what you have to offer, that you have built a relationship with and who will buy from you over and over again.
This is why even if you are an affiliate you need to build a list. If a product is available from more than one source, then people generally buy from a source that they feel an affinity with. We all have our favourite places that we like to shop and buying online is no different. It all comes back to the ‘know, like and trust’ factor that is crucial in marketing today.
You may well be asking ‘How do I go about list building?’
Most online entrepreneurs and marketers use an autoresponder service – Aweber being the one I use. There is a monthly charge for this but it’s well worth it. Ten leads a day can give you a six figure business.
Follow up is crucial as on average people need to see a message seven times before they act on it, and this is where an autoresponder comes into its own for list building, as it keeps track of all your leads and automatically sends out email messages to a schedule specified by you.
4 Steps to making money from list building.
1. Create a landing page where people can opt in to your list and gear this landing page as closely as possible to your target market. Give away a free gift as a thank you and an incentive to get people to join your list. This gift must have some perceived value, and please don’t make any promises that you can’t deliver
2. Drive traffic to your landing page so that people can join your list
3. Once they are on your list give your subscribers value and build a relationship with them
4. Promote products and make sales!
Here’s an example of a landing page for list building. Keep it simple and with only one offer. Don’t have anything on your page that will divert your prospects attention away from that offer.
Good luck with your list building!
